David Putnam

"Writing the Crime Thriller"

A veteran of 30 years in law enforcement, national bestselling author David Putnam's work has been praised by such writers as T. Jefferson Parker and Michael Connelly. Putnam worked primarily in California on teams for Patrol, Investigations, SWAT, Narcotics (street level and majors), Violent Crimes, Criminal Intelligence, Internal Affairs and the Detective Bureau. The Vanquished, the fourth book in his Bruno Johnson series, was published in February. Join us for the story of his successful writer's journey and to hear his expert advice on, "Writing the Crime Thriller."

August 12 Preview

"Summer Open Mic"

Woo hoo! Members and visitors are invited to bring a selection of original writing and read for a maximum of three minutes. This is a chance to share your prose and see what fellow writers are working on. Participants will sign up when they arrive first-come-first-served, in case we run short on time.

A few guidelines:  Please stay with G-rated content because we are in a family library. Also, please time your reading selection beforehand! We will use a timer, and readers must stay within the three-minute limit (but you can finish a sentence or maybe a paragraph if the end of your time is called). You are welcome to read for less than three minutes, of course.
